While the president and his party was destroyed by Republicans in the recent midterm election, it seems like he is getting things done on his own. Many times on this site, you have read my feeling on the matter of Net Neutrality. While there are nearly 4 million Americans had expressed their feeling on the FCC’s official page, the influence of cable and ISP companies are putting the agency on the fence. So, it’s time for The White House to get some business done.
In the newest YouTube video released by the Obama administration, Mr. President makes his positions clear on the matter:
The idea of net neutrality has unleashed the power of the internet, and given innovators the change to thrive. Abandoning these principles would threaten to end the internet as we know it.”
He also asked the FCC to “reclassify internet service under Title II of a law known as the Telecommunication Act.” This act supposedly would protect the consumers right on the information superhighway. However, he did give himself some safe space by reminding people that the FCC is an independent agency, and that the power is in their hand, when it all comes down to the wire.
