Since last week, Microsoft made the headline with the second massive layoff in the new regime of Satya Nadella, mostly in the mobile division. The news is not only a tremendous disappointment for the affected employees but paint a very negative picture of the Microsoft’s mobile division. With all of the bad press around the division, Tery Myerson, head of Device and Services, including Lumias, comes out to calm down the situation.
“Last week we announced a focusing on our Lumia lineup, but let me be clear: soon you will see premium new Lumias designed for Windows 10.”-Terry Myerson
“A focusing” that Myerson was referring to at the Worldwide Partner Conference in Orlando is the for mention layoff. This statement supports the initial statement from the CEO himself, saying that the company is “committed to our first-party devices including phones.”
As we already reported earlier, Microsoft will be in Berlin for IFA this year to announce new devices, and with hope, new Lumia will be there. For now, at least the Windows fan can rest at ease, knowing that the company will continue to support the mobile platform, at least for the next two years.
