Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8.1 got updated.

Well, although Windows Phone 8.1 got a lot of praise for its new look and features, but the Xbox music (the Music hub for Windows Phone 8.1) was one of the low points. The integration with the Xbox Music did somewhat hurt the offline music experience itself. With that knowledge, Microsoft has updated the Xbox Music apps to give it a similar feeling to the old hub, as well as smoothing the integration.

So, we are familiar with the swipe to the left and right to change tracks in queue for Windows Phone 8. With the Now Playing screen integrated in the Home screen of the Xbox Music, the user could swipe to change music anymore. Well, until this update, the playing screen allows the users to swipe up and down to change track. Also, the UI also has a refresh, shows more contents like what is the next track the in queue. Everything seems to work well as WPCentral reported.

Some more update we can look forward to are:

  • Continued focus on stability and performance improvements.
  • Initial sync of local and cloud content happens in the background.
  • Support for greater than 100 songs in Now Playing queue.
  • Faster loading of long lists.
  • Transparent Tile support.
  • Live Tile support.
  • Kid’s Corner support.
  • General UX improvements.
Although the update includes “minor bug fixes,” the Music Hub still, in my personal experience, lagging and at some point, unable to open. But I want to know what is your experience with the Xbox Music so far. Comment bellow, and follow the blog if you haven’t done it already.

FYI: The next update will be released in 2 weeks according to Microsoft
