While I do love a metal unibody device like the HTC One M9, what I love more is Qi charging, or any wireless charging technology for that matter. Here is the problem: smartphones like the HTC One M9, while gorgeous, are unable to equip some of the latest wireless charging technology due to its metal design. Well, that is all about to change soon, as Qualcomm just announces that the company has mastered the way to conduct wireless charging through metal casing devices.
Through its WiPower technology, the company’s QTIs engineers have took down “a major obstacle facing wireless power and opens up the continued adoption of this desirable feature to a much wider range of consumer electronics and use cases.” Meaning that we might see the next generation HTC One to equip the technology and enable wireless charging. It also removes our suspicion on the latest rumors of Microsoft’s Cityman and Talkman; as the devices rumors of having a unibody metal design, with Qi charging.
