As much as we like Windows 10 so far, it is time to move on to the next release of Microsoft’s newest OS, Windows 10 Mobile. Seeing as Microsoft has an awful reputation with OTA updates on Windows Phone, the company needs a definite plan. As we know, any Windows Phone 8.1 devices can get Windows 10 update, the question is which one will get it first. Well, Microsoft just reveals its plan for the update schedule.
On Microsoft’s official website, the company posted following devices to get Windows 10 update “when available:”
- Lumia 430
- Lumia 435
- Lumia 532
- Lumia 535
- Lumia 540
- Lumia 640
- Lumia 640 XL
- Lumia 735
- Lumia 830
- Lumia 930
The folks at Neowin have reached out to Redmond to get some answers since the phrase “when available” is pretty vague. Microsoft releases a statement to clarify:
“This is an initial list of in-market devices to receive the Windows 10 update. It is our ambition to bring Windows 10 to all Lumia devices running Lumia Denim software, noting that some features will vary, based on the hardware specifications.”
In short, the devices listed above will be getting the first touch on Windows 10 Mobile. However, there are still some questions remain. For one thing, only a handful of devices got the Denim updates. Also, will other with Lumia Cyan be getting the updates. Evidently, even devices with Cyan firmware still can run Windows 10 through insider preview, so there is no reason it should not work. As reported, Microsoft is planning to release it for the period of September and November, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
