Screenshot_1

Wow, the launchers are on Fire today, Nokia is not the only one. As you remember, last year, Jolla the company went out of their way and created a new OS with gesture based-control, the Sailfish OS. Now, although the Jolla phone is available, the OS itself is still quite immature, and still has a lot of work to do. But while waiting, Jolla is releasing Jolla Launcher as a preview of what we can expect from Salfish OS. This is the company’s attempt to attract more attention from the market to one of the youngest OS in the market.

The Alpha test of the Jolla Launcher will start next week, and the sign up is open now. The launcher will support Android handsets that are running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or later. However, the intension of the company is focusing on the Nexus line, specifically the Nexus 4 and 5. The group of users interesting in this part of the test drive will sign up and follow instruction to receive a google play link to download the launcher.

Although the gesture-based OS still have quite a bit of work to do, the notion of a button-less phone and everything can be navigated by certain gesture is quite futuristic. Can’t wait that Salfish OS can bring to the table down the road.
