Well, as of right now, we are not even sure about the Nexus line’s faith. A few months ago, we heard that the line will be replaced with the Android Silver. Some other rumors have that there is an existence of the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8, although it is un-reliable. So, what do we have today? It is leaked information of a Nexus 9 makes by HTC is in the work.
Ok, remember a while ago, we heard about a Nexus 8? A Nexus 7’s design with thinner bezels. Well, that device was also rumored to be made by HTC with similar SoC as this Nexus device. If you don’t remember, let’s dive in the specification of this Volantis, or the Google Nexus 9.
As you guessed from the name, this tablet will have around 9-inch (to be specific, 8.9-inch) display, accompany with it with a resolution of 2048×1440, brings the pixel density to 281ppi. However, the screen reportedly will have an aspect ratio of 4:3, and as you can tell, it does not line up with the resolution. Either this piece of information is wrong, or it is the fact that the on-screen button is not included in the calculation. Spec-wise, the device will be featured a 64-bit NVIDIA Logan processor, also known as the Tegra K1, no information on the clock speed of the Nexus 9 yet, but the maximum speed is at 2.3GHz. On the back, we have an 8Mp that is optically stabilized (what??? On a tablet?), a 3MP front-facing camera. 2GB of RAM and options of 16 or 32 GB of built-in storage.
Dimension wise, the Nexus 9 rumored to have a height of 8.91 inches, 5.98-inch width and 0.31 inches thick. The device supposedly weight at 418g for the Wifi model, for the LTE, it is 427g. HTC will apparently continue its trend from the HTC One, an “aluminum zero-gap construction with tapered-sides”-design, and although the render looks a bit different from what the leak describes. Also, the design also looks quite similar to the Nexus 5.
Availability has also been leaked with this report from Android Police. When it launched, the WiFi model will allegedly be priced at $399 for 16GB, and $100 for the 32GB. The LTE model however will apparently be priced up to $600 or even more, which is way out of the norm and dismissed the whole point of the Nexus line, at least in the last few years. The tablet, reportedly will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year, so be prepared.
