Despite the fact that Apple sells the iPhone in the millions, the phone itself has never been a spec competitors. Don’t get it twisted, the iPhone is one of the smoothest running devices out there but compares to what Android has to offer, Apple spec sheet does not look too impressive. Well, the spec race has caught up to Apple. Last year, we witnessed the company took a sharp turn and entered the phablet market. This year, we might get something even better with the next iteration of the iPhone.
Sources from China believe that Apple is working on a new display for the next iPhone. If according to plan, Apple will announce two variant, the 6S, and the 6S Plus. Now, the iPhone 6S will get a bump from 720p to 1080p while the iPhone 6S Plus will get an Ultra HD (2K) display. A few questions come up: What type of screen will Apple use, IPS or AMOLED? Will the name “Retina HD” be used to describe these display, and if so, what can we tell from that name. Naturally, with iOS 9 being announced soon, we will learn more about the available resolution in the Beta provides to the developers.
